Three Japanese newspapers plan common website

According to FT.com, Yomiuri Shimbun, Asahi Shimbun and Nikkei have announced the creation of a joint website to attract young internet users.
“We want to increase the influence of newspapers in the world of the internet,” Kotaro Akiyama, Asahi chief executive, told a joint news conference.

Despite the fact that the Japanese market has highest rates of readership worldwide and sales remain steady, the three newspapers unite to fight the loss of interest amongst young readers and the ageing of their audience.
